The Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS) has become the premiere and most comprehensive conference on magnetism in Europe. The coming JEMS meeting will take place from 24th to 29th July, 2022, at the main campus of the University of Warsaw, located at the heart of the historical part of Warsaw, Poland. Due to the recent pandemic situation, as for today, the JEMS conference assumes a hybrid form.
JEMS covers a wide breadth of cutting-edge topics in magnetism and magnetic materials research, ranging from the fundamental to the applied. The topics cut across the entire field of magnetism, such as biomagnetism applications, chiral magnetism and skyrmions, multiferroics, strongly correlated systems, topological magnetic materials, ultrafast optical spintronics, and magnonics.
JEMS 2022 follows the program layout of its recent predecessors (Lisbon 2020, Uppsala 2019, Mainz 2018, …) to ensure that all participants can enjoy plenary and semi-plenary lectures delivered by speakers from around the world, representing leading efforts at the frontiers of topical areas. Attendees are also able to contribute to specific symposia through talks and poster sessions focused on their research topics.
The Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, are important centers of magnetism research in Poland. Here, the concept of dilute magnetic semiconductors was formulated and the framework of ferromagnetism in these materials was laid down. The joint efforts of Warsaw’s scientists and their colleagues worldwide in this field resulted in a number of ground-breaking achievements in magnetism and means of functionalization. Other material systems, including complex oxide materials with perovskite structure and half-metals, are intensively studied in the context of their specific applications e.g. in refrigerators based on magnetocaloric effects or for spintronic applications that require very high spin polarization, as well as in the search for phenomena at the intersection of magnetism, superconductivity, and topological properties.
Both the Organizing and the Program Committees of JEMS 2022 are looking forward to welcoming you to Warsaw!
